Tome of Horrors and Repeat Monsters

So when is the Penumbra Bestiary coming out? I could use ( or just enjoy reading about ) some new monsters!

Go to www.atlas-games.com for two preview monsters (the first one by me).

From a different thread I heard they are doing inhouse proofreading now and it will be out six weeks after that is done. In the interim they will provide one monster a week as a preview.

psion, i'm amazed. isn't this the same attitude as the 'if it ain't official WotC, then it ain'ty in my game' attitude that we were discussing in another thread a couple of weeks ago?

If I choose to put in creatures from Faerun... or Iron Kinddoms or Oathbound or Scarred Lands... that's entirely my call. However, I scarcely expect to have to buy scarred lands supplements for things that were already in my game to begin with, unlike FR.

Also, there's a note about using fire bat as improved familiar, but none for other decent candidats like ash rat, grimalkin or phase wasp.
This bugs you too? It also annoys me that whoever decided the fire bat's "familiar level" was apparently smoking crack.

True but that's the way it goes some times Psion.

Maybe we should petition WotC to do an online article about improved familiars. Some one at WotC often posts replies to questions in their web content forum.

Bah, Fiend Folio was sent out for playtesting towards the beginning of last year, so the plans and moster work ups went back even more.

What seems really funny and ironic to me is the recurring statement I see in various threads that goes something like this, "TOH is very small, few people will buy, who cares about overlap from some "generic" d20 monster collection?"

I wish one of these people would give me their copy, as my FLGS has been out of stock and says the TOH is on backorder for three weeks. :(

Do you mean ToH had a smaller print run than any of WotC's books, or that it is physically small? It's actually quite a big book, much bigger than the MM or MM2.

sorry for the late night lack of clarity, I meant that the audience would be small (according to these detractors). I have been wanting a copy and have been unable to obtain one. :(
