Too Twinkey an item?

In the game I am playing, our party is about to hit 10th level. We jsut reciently commisioned a set of magical cloak pins that have 5 heal moderate wounds/day in them...cast by me, meaning they are 9+2d8 HP a shot and 45+ 10d8/day x 4 since we are a 4 party group.

While they did cost us a huge part of our loot from the last adventure (we where sorely under equipped until this), 40,000 gold, I am wondering if they are not a bit too powerful.

They are wonderful...and take a lot of pressure off me--allowing me to be freer with my spells and there for my buffs.

I am just worried that we may have a bit too much of a good thing.

Any thoughts. (And eventually they will even save money over the potions we have been using.)

too twinky? (i thought you were talking about a Hostess product :D )

so essentially you're buying a version of a ring of spell storing that will only accept cure moderate wounds spells. did you pay 40 grand for a set of pins? then they're way too powerful (using the ring as an example). for just one pin, i don't think so.

why not just buy a bunch of cure light wounds wands? 750 gp for a total of 50d8+50 healing, much more cost effective

1800 x 2 x 9 x 5 / 5 x 4 = 129600gp

Sounds like you got a great deal on the price.
I suggest having them use 3rd level caster level. A third the price, two-thirds the healing.

Cure light wounds is a lot more efficient for out-of-combat healing. Get a wand or two for when the daily items aren't enough.

Geoff.

We had someone else do the enchanting (an NPC) but I did casting. DM ruled that the would follow the usual minimum for pricing (IE caster level 3) while allowing to store the more powerful spell.

The reason we did not go with cure light, is the only person they would make a noticiable differance for would be the sorcerer--the rest of the party has over 80 HP--the fighter has over 100. Cure lights just would not add enough HP to make them effective.

We paid 10,800 each for them.

Not too powerful. They're not too effective to be used in the middle of fight, so a pack of wands would've been a better investment. You could've bought around 50 wands with that money.

I would agree with Geoff's pricing.

1800 for command word x 2 for spell level x 9 for caster level would be 32400 each, half if you made them. Since there seems to have been some strange cooperative making scheme, I'd split the difference (75% market). Note that 5 times per day would be the same price as unlimited, on-command use.
