I picked up a copy of these odd little game pretty cheap so I'm wondering how it plays? Anyone ever give it a try? What's your thoughts? How's it play?

Hysterical fun for about three hours, then it gets very tedious.

But HYSTERICAL FUN. Toon is a work of sheer genius in game design.

its just lovely, I only ever played one game, so I cant speak to its staying power.
but the last silly game I played [paranoia] dragged after 5 hours. YMMV

I signed up for a Toon game at Gen Con last year. It was a LOTR Wrestling Toon game...

Sounded hilarious, but it was a sunday morning slot at 8:00 am...couldn't get myself out of bed.

I'm sure it was fun, though!

I thought Toon was fun to read and build characters for, but not very fun to play. A zany GM may help.
I didn't actually play it, but that's how I figured it would be. I don't find intentionally wacky to work very well in RPG's. Comedy ain't easy.

I played a few times back in college, some 15 years ago. I have not kept up with it so I don't know if the rules were ever revised, but the games I played were a lot of silly fun (of course alcohol may also have been a contributing factor). I think it can make for a good change of pace, but I certainly would not want to try and play it as a campaign or anything.

Well, i doubt I'll ever get to play, but it was sitting on the used self with a good price on it. So, I figured might as wello get it since it is bnot a books I see cheap often. Anyone know when it first came out? Myine is copywrite 91 and I'm not usre if there have been multiple editions or printings of it.

I would play Toon in a heartbeat if I could find enough people that wanted to play. It's an awesome change of pace for a one-shot, to get away from the rulesmanship of d20-isms, at least for a week.
