My picks are:

For any edition:

So, what are your top 5 D&D books or supplements? If you were stranded on an island in the middle of nowhere and you had only dice, paper and the core books, what other 5 D&D books would you take with you, bearing in mind that you might be stuck there forever. Here's my list. I chose the monster books for added variety, the World's Largest Dungeon because it would probably take forever to play through it, and Unearthed Arcana for a variety of new play options.
  • Monster Manual II
  • Monster Manual III
  • World's Largest Dungeon
  • Unearthed Arcana
  • Advanced Bestiary

I'm hoping there is people to play with...............?

YEah, yeah, yeah... I'm a busy bard - I don't have time to like, read instructions!

Ok, revised list.

I'm still taking D20 Modern for variety.
My binder with printout of my Secret Squadron Subscription to Adamant's Thrilling Tales, or D20 Past.
Libris Mortis
My 3" Green Campaign Binder
Mutants and Masterminds, also for variety.

I do not see any instructions. People define what is and is not a "D&D" book in different ways.
