D&D 3E/3.5 Topic: 3.5 expert advice and commentary needed please! Level Progression Issues

Hey everyone!

Ok so first I will refer you to my original post, I can't post links yet but if you go to Giants in the Playground forums and search Drow Rogue/Fighter/Assassin -Need dip advice- the page with my character should come up.

I took a long look at a lot of things and have 6 rather complex solutions.

Setup 1

Rogue 5/ Fighters 2/Assassin 8/Class*/Mindbender 4

Setup 2

Rogue 5/ Fighters 2/Assassin 8(10**)/Psion 3(5**)/Cerebremancer 2

Setup 3

Rogue 5/ Fighter 2/Assassin 8/Lurk 5

Setup 4

Rogue 5/Fighter 2/Assassin 8/ Trapsmith 2/ ***3

Setup 5

Rogue 5/Fighter2/Assassin 8/Jaunter4/***1

Setup 6

Rogue 5/Fighter 2/Assassin 8/Spell Thief 5

*-Any single level class that grants Charm Person
(Bard, Urban Druid, Wizard, Sorcerer, beguiler)
**-Cerebremancer increases spellcasting/manifester level
***-Unknown Class​

My current issues are:

1.In order which would be the "best" to "worst"?
2.Any that should be cut altogether?
3. Advice on filler for the Setups with a *** in them
4. Any way in 5 levels to incorporate effective Shadow Magic?

As always all comments are appreciated. Thanks for all the help in advance.

Quick note-TOB is not in this campaign (No swordsage, crusader etc). Almost every book is allowed but TOB. Also the character is working with the Drow society (Females as rulers) and is a devout servant of Lolth.

That said, what do you want out of the character? You're already at rogue5/ fighter1 (drow ACF)/ assassin 3, but what parts of what's already there do you want to emphasize?

You really ought to post the entirety of your build here as you did on gitp.

The Distract Assailant spell might give you another way to make things flat-footed.

Are you using Unearthed Arcana? If so, you could have your LA bought off by now if you don't already.

You might want to have the thread moved over to http://www.enworld.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?363-Rogues-Gallery-Character-Builds-amp-Optimization since that's the new optimization and builds forum.

I would think my current goal is akin to 'Master Assassin' good single target kill ability (DA, SA etc) as well as a long list of abilitiy options (special gear, spells, powers etc)

I guess my main idea is just an Assassin with a lot of tools at his disposal. A lot of these build don't make for the most optimized damage dealer etc but they do make him very versatile.

Distract Assailant is one of the spells on the potential list. If I don't see more usage out of Stupor that may be the next one up.

Yeah LA is already bought off, glad that option exists.

Being new and all how would I move my thread?

You could ask a mod to move it by reporting your own post. Alternately, you could just ask for this to be closed and then put up a new thread in that forum with the rest of the information about your build so far.
