Touch Attack while Grappling

If you are being grappled do you have to make an attack roll for touch attack spells? I mean, logically you're already touching the person you want to hit. Maybe there should just be a plus to hit on touch attacks while being grappled? Or should it work as normal?

Thanks,

Well, for one you can't cast spells while in a grapple (w/o special provisions). If you've cast a spell and held the charge, and someone tries to grapple you, then you can make an AoO w/ the armed spell.

I don't know - at that point you have to wonder if the bit about a spell being discharged as soon as you touch ANYTHING has any meaning? If it does, than when grappled I'd say it's pretty much a sure thing you touched either the grappler or yourself.

Well, I meant with the feat Still Spell.

Thats a good point, I never thought of that. It makes sense to me,

It (really) means: "No walking around, holding the charge, for days on end."

RAW purists can certainly argue differently, but that's the intent. If you find yourself in a grapple with an undischarged touch spell, you make your touch attack (at -4, of course) like you would with any other weapon.

RAW purists would agree with you, but also point out that you must touch something, not that something must touch you. For instance, while holding the charge if a monk punches you in the face, your spell is not discharged on the monk.

True, but your touch need not be intentional.

"If you don’t discharge the spell in the round when you cast the spell, you can hold the discharge of the spell (hold the charge) indefinitely. You can continue to make touch attacks round after round. You can touch one friend as a standard action or up to six friends as a full-round action. If you touch anything or anyone while holding a charge, even unintentionally, the spell discharges..."
