Tower Construction (pic heavy)

I glued the stair together and filled in the gaps with spackle. I then painted the stairs with using the same technique used to paint the walls. Placed beneath the door, I can see that they are looking pretty good. Next, I need to put the roof on the tower, then I'll be done.

The tower is complete! I am happy with the way it came out. The will serve as a nice focal point for the PCs' battle with the followers of Hextor. If I build another tower, there are a few things I will do differently.

The foam core I used for the roof of the tower was a poor choice. When glue and paint were applied, the foam warped as it dried. Next time I will use a thick balsa that won't deform. Also, I think I should have cut battlements at the top. It would have been a nice touch.

All in all, it wasn't a bad effort and it gave me some terrain building practice. I will compile the posts from this thread in an "I dream in 25mm." column for the February 2009 issue of my zine.

It looks very nice. Were I to make any changes, I would add some static grass to the cracks in the stairs - especially on the bottom, where the cardboard is visible.

Great suggestion. The model definitely needs a base. I really need practice with static grass and/or flock. It's art unto itself.

Thanks for checking in. :)
