So no, it was not an April's fools joke.

April 4th, in US date style is 4:20.

4:20 is a slang term for marijuana in the US.

In the US on April 4th, some people have cannabis-related events.

Thus IGN's comment that @trappedslider quoted above -- ""If you were upset by this video, might I advise you to, uh, "celebrate" the holiday, wait half an hour, watch it again and let us know how you feel about it after that".

As a non-American, such "local customs/slangs" is not something I (and lots of people) would know.
