[Trailer] The Spirit

I see. So, what does anyone here know about the Horror and Mystery aspects of the original? The write up seems to suggest that the original could take some very dark turns and that leads me to believe that Miller might be focusing on those while Cooke kept his modern rendition more light and somewhat comedic.

The darker elements were still usually handled pretty lightly.

Honestly, this isn't a case of Miller taking obscure parts as much as Miller making the movie he wants to make a damn the source material. Well, that and a bit of an obvious cash in on Sin City.

It wasn't Cooke's rendition. Check out the cover of The Spirit #1, from Will Eisner himself:

The Spirit's stories had much in common with, say, Dick Tracy. The character itself wasn't groundbreaking. What made the Spirit a success and a cult hit was Eisner's masterful storytelling.

So basically, Frank Miller is taking someone else's creation and turning it into a Sin City spinoff?

Man... first All-Star Batman, now this. The more this guy does lately, the less I like him.
