Trap maker = magic item?

I would have to double check, but I believe Traps are priced as single-use magic items when a spell effect is attached. If the trap isn't priced so, then it needs to be errata'd for the effects cost.

Also, I don't believe Trap Crafting or whatever Rogue ability is usually gained should be a substitute for "build any magic item". For instance, a trap with the ability to strike as a magical sword should require the Craft Arms and Armor feat. Wondrous Items at least should be required for the trap in question.

My own ruling would be any item with a spell effect is a magic item. Such an item can be incorporated into a trap and should be properly weighed into the trap's difficulty as well as the value of it as treasure if overcome.

I believe the final result was around 3000 gp

That is comparable to the cost of a use-activated magic item enchanted with Cure Minor Wounds. But again, it's important to note that activation of a magic item is generally a standard action, and also that magic items take up a magic item body slot.
