Traps activating on view

MAN! I never thought of THAT... great means of escape... or a trap. :P

I'm really digging the shadow conjuration floor. That's awesome. Combine it with an illusion of a pit, and you have a real "Trial of Faith" to walk across... I'm thinking here of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

Was fun, yes.

Rogue - failed will save while searching for traps - solid floor, no trap to find (for the Rogue).
Fighter - failed will save while walking across - solid floor, perfectly safe.
Cleric - made save, rolled under 61%, and was affected by the non-damaging effect of the floor supporting his weight. Odd black floor, but solid enough.
Wizard - Made save, rolled over the 60%, and fell through. Didn't have Featherfall prepared.
Rogue and Fighter looked back, wondering where the Wizard went.....
Wizard got annoyed, and Disintigrated the shadow-stuff from the bottom of the pit (wasn't a fatal distance to fall).

A Shadow Evocation Wall of Ice is better, though - if they pass the will save, it's a 0% chance of the non-damaging effects.....

That's not the way it works.

Symbol of Death has a trigger range of 60'. So a rogue 65' away (within 10' of the trigger) can Search, find the Symbol (DC 33), and Disable it (DC 33 again).

I never said that was how it worked, I said that's how it goes. I know how it's supposed to work, but the DM seems to overlook those nice 'rules' and such.
