Traveller 5e coming from World's Largest RPG in cooperation with Mongoose Publishing

Honestly, I can see the appeal, in certain cases. People can argue all they want, but the Traveller rules are a hurdle for folks that are primarily used to D&D, that's not even mentioning a particular Traveller setting. And compared to something like Mothership, Traveller is super crunchy.
Compared to Mothership, D&D 5 is pretty crunchy, too.
And for such a simple game, it managed to make the first few releases horribly laid out.

Which edition of Traveller?
Relatively Light, 2.5/5 : CT (either), T2300/2300AD
Moderately crunchy (3.5/5) : MT, MgT1, MgT2, T20, HT
Rather crunchy (4/5) : TNE, T4, GT, GTIW, T5

I'd put D&D 5 core triplet only at about 2.5, as well... and about 3.0 with splats.

If you stick solely to core, drop half a point (full point for GT and GTIW, none for T20).
If you avoid ships, drop another half point.

And, except for GT, GTIW, MT, and TNE, they're all toolkitish. MT, well, it's a special case of being (literally) a third party's house rule variant, incorporating Striker in place of Bk1 and strikerizing Bk5, then modding from there.
