Traveller Developer's Pack Finalised

MongooseMatt

First Post
Mongoose Publishing, in conjunction with Far Future Enterprises, is proud to announce the availability of the Traveller Developer's pack as a free download from;

Mongoose Publishing : For All Your Gaming Needs ...

The all new Developer's Pack contains the new Fair Use Policy, as well as the Traveller Logo Licence and Foreven Free Sector Logo Licence, Traveller System Reference Document and appropriate logos.

Fair Use Policy
The Fair Use Policy is a development of Far Future Enterprise's previous policy, and covers the use of all older editions of Traveller for non-commercial use.

Traveller Logo Licence
With an updated SRD, the Traveller Logo Licence allows you to use the official Traveller logo with the current edition of rules, for commercial or non-commercial use.

Foreven Free Sector Logo Licence
Marc Miller has kindly granted the Developer's Pack an entire sector within the Original Traveller Universe, for both commercial and non-commercial products. Third party publishers may now produce and sell material based on the Third Imperium.

It is our fond hope that this Developer's Pack will encourage the Traveller community to grow and expand with a range of new downloads, web sites and products, making Traveller the best science fiction game around!

Sweet! Hey, a couple questions.

1. The Fair Use policy covers "non-Mongoose Traveller editions." Does that include GURPS: Traveller? In general what editions does that cover/not cover? GDW is mentioned specifically but there have been a bunch of eds over time.

2. Do you have to use the Traveller Logo License to publish anything using the MonTrav rules? No, right, since those are OGL - as long as you just use the SRD you can do anything with that, but if you want to use Traveller logo you need that license? The license has a lot of "GSL-like" restrictions, it's odd that it's only for the logo (you can't even emulate trade dress). What's the intended use of that?

3. In terms of the Fair Use and other policies - is it still noncommercial as far as you're concerned if there's ads on your Web pages? I ask because White Wolf's lameo site policy says there can't be ads anywhere (a problem, when many people are using free blogs/Web hosts that post the ads themselves).

This was first published back in July and I
covered it on my blog at the time: The Traveller Developer’s Pack

It is great news and worth repeating but has anything actually changed?

The SRD has several additions (All from the main book).
It contains a fair use policy for those that want to post homebrewed stuff to their website about older editions
It also contains the Foreven Free Sector Logo License to commercially make stuff with OTU trappings. Its pretty sweet, I gotta tell ya.
