Oh it's Treebeard from The Two Towers, the next movie in the LotR series.

He's an Ent, which became the D&D Treant.

I believe the Ents will be the Balrogs of "The Two Towers" -- the completely cool CG effect that everyone wants to see.

I'm surprised they've let out as many glimpses of the Ents as they have. Images of the Balrog were top secret before "Fellowship of the Ring" came out.

I think they're pretty confident that The Two Towers will make half a gazillion anyway, and they wouldn't want to keep Treebeard from eager collectors willing to shell out dough would they? After all, it's all money.

No, I think that honor wil go to Gollum. The ents will certainly be spectacular, but I'll betcha they take more pains to make Gollum emote, and be a person, which is hard with CGI.

It's a toy that doesn't look to tree like, hopefully he will in the movie.
