The Blair Witch Project always struck me as a good idea done poorly. The biggest fault in logic I had with it was the damn stream in it... how much brains does it take to say to yourself, "Hey, we're lost in the woods.. here's a stream... let's follow it downriver, and it will have to come out somewhere... " But no, the stupid kids walk away from it and end up going in circles...

IIRC, they tried following the stream. It didn't work because something supernatural kept making them go in circles.

I'm surprised at how many people who saw this movie didn't realize what was going on. Many thought it was someone in the town or a psycho loose in the woods messing with the college kids. It wasn't -- it was the Blair Witch. I don't know if that was your impression, but the film is scarey if you accept the concept that something supernatural is happening to those kids.

Maybe they should make a top ten worst lists ever made. This would be number 1 with a bullet. They totally left out such greats as In the Mouth of Madness and The Prince of Darkness. IMO quite a bit more horror oriented than half the movies on that list and a damn lot scarier.

Oh, and for you Wicker Man fans out there, they are doing a remake with Nicholas Cage in the starring role......now that's true horror!!!

And sadly even that one sucks. Tells you how truely bad the first one is. But I gotta ask about the IMDB one....Seven a horror movie? Young Frankenstein?? Wasn't that more of a Mel Brooks comedy (and a damn good one too. One of the top 10 if you ask me)??? Some of their other choices confuse me too. The Others was not good enough to beat out all the other movies that we can think of for top 50 status. There was a list that a channel (I think it's AMC) runs every year leading up to Halloween that is much better than any of these. They also run a list of top 100 great horro moments/ scenes of all time. Prefer those lists much better to these........

It's the top 10 list by avarage user vote on IMDB. Several films of that list are classified in multiple genres, and that's how Young Frankenstein makes it onto the list. It doesn't look at what the primary genre of a film is, it just takes the average rating and compares that to all the films in any genre it is listed in. As for the Others ranking on the list, well, the voters gave it enough votes to hit #29 on the Horror list.
