Tripping At Reach

First Post
Somebody is moving towards you (charging or whatever). You have a Spiked Chain or Guisarme, and thus you get an AoO. You elect to use your AoO to trip your opponent, and succeed. Where do they fall down? One square away from you or two?

3.5 rules, if it matters.

Yes, per the Sage (personal email):

In the case of a normal attack-of-opportunity from movement (leaving a threatened space), where exactly is the mover when the attack takes place -- in the threatened space he's trying to leave, or in the next space that he's trying to enter?

In the space the character is trying to leave. Any AoO is resolved before the act that triggers it is resolved.

Which, of course, makes spiked chain and Improved Trip one of the deadliest combos in 3.5, what with the no AoO and the freebie attack.
