True20 and Ptolus

Specifically, what aspects of Ptolus I'm going to sacrifice using True20?

Mainly, a lot of the high-powered D&D magic, especially spells and items. Ptolus is full of these sorts of things. True20 handles powers and abilities differently. It is harder to cast spells that do mass area damage, invisibility, dimension door, flying, etc.

The toughness mechanic is clunkier than hitpoints though, and it takes some getting used to. Personally I use Baduin's variant:

I really like this idea and want to try it out. Have you found Baduin's variant works with certain campaign styles better than others (such as D&D high fantasy, or grim and gritty with low-magic, for example)?

My variant works exactly the same as the standard rules, so it is only a question which is more comfortable for you. The results are virtually identical, but I think my version is a bit easier in use.

I posted it here:

Yeah, Baduin did great job. The differences (mathematically speaking) seem very small. Granted, I haven't gone past Level 7 with them, so I can't vouch for how they interact once you start having a lot of conviction, but I doubt it's any different than the RAW method.
