True20 question

I wouldn't get the full book if you have the pocket edition. The Bestiary goes into much greater detail on 3.5 conversions.
The bestiary doesn't include several standard monsters (goblins, ogres, horses, orcs, etc) because those were already included in the main book.

Also, the full book also has some example settings to help inspire and focus ideas. Not to mention, some of the custom mechanics for those settings are both good and interesting.

Caliphate Nights - A tasteful, intelligent and evocative take upon Arabia around 1000 A.D. that includes some truly innovative mechanics. Sure, they have a full book of their own out now but the setting in the book is a nice benefit for us poor folk.
Lux Aeternum - Single star system science fiction with a mix of Star Drive, Star Wars and Victorian Steampunk. Their full setting book will be out soon.
Mecha vs. Kaiju - Perfect for an Evangelion game, or if you just want stats for Godzilla when he shows up to humble your players. This full setting book is also nearing release.
Borrowed Time - Probably the weakest setting since it has very little setting information, but it has some really interesting mechanics for a character that can manipulate the fabric of time. It also works extremely well for very specialized types of casters. The setting book is in production but I have no idea when it's coming out.

So, while the full book isn't required, it's in no way a waste of funds.

Main book seconded, Companion seconded thirded too.

Personally, I'd just go with those two. Anything else is icing (e.g., the Blood Throne Survivor's Guide, Liber Artefactorum, etc.) They're both very solid indeed, and together provide enough options to do virtually anything with.

Along with using the forums that Plane Sailing posted the link to, I suspect that absolutely anything could be done. The folks there are very helpful.

Blood Throne might be closer to 40 weight oil than icing. ;)

Post Apocalyptic Fantasy Penzoil!

We're beginning work on Book 2 of the Blood Throne Saga; the Book of Bones, a bestiary for the world of Simarra, just an FYI.

Heh. It is very good indeed, this is true. I'm still reading through the Survivor's Guide, so no final word on that (from me, anyway.) But it is nice work, certainly. Between Blood Throne, Nevermore and my latest brew / HRs, the True20ers here will be happy for quite some time, methinks.

Fantastic news. I'll also take that to imply that the Blood Throne line is doing well so far, which is good to hear.

Er, sorry for the t/j. :heh:

I think I'll have to save up to get the full Rulebook and the Bestiary... Then maybe pick up a few extra pocket guides to give to my players as Christmas presents.

Since suggestions are being tossed around I figure I might as well mention the Nevermore Gazetteer... which you don't even have to save up for because its free!

It can be found at Your Games Nows:

If you have any questions about the Nevermore campaign setting just let me know and I'll be more than willing to answer them ASAP. ;)

Keep Your Dreams Alive!

PS: You can also find more information on Nevermore over at the True20 Forums:

The T/J ?

Blood Throne is doing pretty good for the first week, thanks for asking! There's much more to do with it. I want to support the CS as best I can, and the bestiary is a step in the right direction.
