Trying again: What would it take to get _you_ to use core only?

What bonus would be enough to get you to seriously consider the core-only option?

Core Only?

Core only is fine by me when I am running a game but my playeres despise it. As a player I also enjoy having different abilities/classes available to give my PC some extra flavor outside the same CORE Rules.

I DM Core Only but few of the players have any other books so it has never been a problem.
Might be nice to experiment with some of the twinkbooks but not a loss if I don't. I just like playing.

Unfortunately the definition of Core only is a problem. Core for our group is DMG, PHB and MM. Anything beyond that is no longer core. Once you add the completes alone there are too many problems. However if you are smart you can make an effective character with core only under these terms but with what you have defined as core there are some really broken stuff.

If the campaign were Core only and the DM asked me.

I don't like the idea that I need to be bribed to do what the DM would prefer.

The question is still a bit iffy.. but I voted the "no amount of options" option simply because the game isn't Core-only as you present it. I would play Core-only in a Core-only game, and that's it. Otherwise I would never limit myself if I have other options available.

Amendment:
I run Core Only, partly because I use DMGenie and it only includes OGL stuff, but partly because I didn't want anyone to feel left out if they didn't have easy access to the same books as others.

If someone offered to DM a 'use what books you like game' I would jump at the chance.

I don't need to be offered any bonuses to be restricted to Core only, I really don't mind.

Ditto. I get more from exploring a character personality rather than a characters abilities.

Quoted for truth.

The question is still the same as in the other poll.

You basically have two sets of rules in effect at the table.

Core only and optional rules.

There is no way the two can be considered the same.

And my answer is the same as the other poll.

The DM must make available (via some means including other players loaning of the books) any source being used at the table.

Our group has 2 DM's and they have a system ranging from core only to more. Listed as follows.

32 pt buy core only, DMG Except PrC's, PHB, MM.

28 pt buy with expansions beyond core at every odd level beginning at 3rd. These expansions allow you to choose a spell, PrC, feat, Class if multi-classing, ect from any other book. This is still subject to DM okay. 1 DM allows 1 expansion at this point to allow a class/race/feat. 9/10 items that are non-core.

25 pt buy with 3 expansions. One of my characters is a psiforged psion. Warforge from ECS(1), Psiforged feat from MoE(2), and Psion from XPH(3). Further expansions starting at 3rd every odd level. 12 items non-core.

22 pt buys as with a 25 pt buy but an LA+1 race.

Standard array 13/12/11/10/9/8 for LA+2 race and as 25 pt buy.

The LA races trade stats for abilities and more stats and don't have to be a level or two behind.
