TWF and Weapon Focus

Hmm. As written, I don't think I agree.

Let's say you have a longsword and a dagger, and you have Weapon Focus in Heavy Blades and Light Blades, and the TWF feat.

Since you have a weapon in each hand, you get a +1 bonus to damage rolls with your main weapon. Since yo uhave Weapon Focus, you get a +1 bonus to damage rolls with your chosen weapon group; that is, you get a +1 bonus to damage rolls with Heavy Blades, and you get a +1 bonus to damage rolls with Light Blades.

You make your attack, and you make a damage roll with your longsword (a Heavy Blade), and add +1 (from TWF). Since you're making a damage roll with a Heavy Blade, you get to add another +1 (from WF: Heavy Blades). You are not making any damage rolls with a Light Blade, so WF: Light Blades has no effect.

That is correct.

In the event where you're attacking with your off-hand (say, flinging the dagger at someone), you get your +1 damage bonus from WF: Light Blades, but not the TWF bonus, since that's clearly your off-hand.

Now, let's say you're a ranger ("I'm a ranger!" in gnome-voice) with these same feats.

You use a two-weapon attack power. Your damage comes out to be W+Str+1+1 on your main hand heavy blade, and W+Str+1 on the off-hand light blade, because the two Weapon Foci feats don't stack with each other. (In fact, it's more efficient for a ranger to use two of the same sort of weapon, but that's neither here nor there...)

Smurf, I don't think anyone was implying that you could get an extra damage from the offhand weapon, just that if you have TWF and weapon focus in your main hand weapon you would get +2 damage total. I think the main question was if TWF and Weapon Focus stacked, which I think we agree upon.

Ah, gotcha! That makes more sense. I read "both of these feats" as "Weapon Focus for both weapons", rather than "the TWF feat and the Weapon Focus feat for the main hand weapon".

It's obvious that's what was intended now that you point it out, and I agree... +1 for TWF, +1 for WF, total of +2.
