Two Custom Psionic Powers

The Psion in my game wanted something that would allow him to activate buffing powers quickly, so I came up with these. What does everyone think?

Lesser Psionic Boost
Psycometabolism (Str)
Level: Psion 3
Display: Au, Vi
Manifestation time: 1 full round
Range: Personal
Target: You
Duration: Instantaneous
Power Points: 5

Through manifestation of Lesser Psionic Boost you manifest up to three levels of psionic powers (count talents as level ½) in a single round. None of the powers can be higher than second level, and you must pay the full power point cost for each in addition to the cost of Lesser Psionic Boost itself, including any cost adjustments for meta-psionics or triggered powers. All the powers you manifest though this power affect you. However, you may include one power with a range of touch that does not directly affect you, rather you are considered to be holding the charge after for this power after you have manifest this power. You must know and be able to manifest all the powers you select.

Psionic Boost
Psycometabolism (Str)
Level: Psion 6
Power Points: 11

As Lesser Psionic Boost, only you can manifest up to 6 total levels of powers, with no single power being higher than 5th level.

EDIT: Fixed range / duration.

First off, the range should be 0 or personal...the other spells could have another range but this one does not.

Second, I think it is too powerful. It is a way to get Ectoplasmic Armor and Lesser Magic Weapon (6 levels) or Lesser Natural Armor, Verve, Talons, Elfsight, and Hammer (2.5 levels). Or a lesser body adjustment and a body adjustment (3 levels) or 3 body adjustments (6 levels).

Regardless, these powers could allow a character to manifest as many as 7 (for lesser) or 13 (for greater) powers in a single round (counting the Boost).

These powers exceed quicken power hugely.

You're right about the range, makes sense.

Compare it to schism. Both lesser boost and schism are 3rd level.

Schism
Round 1 Manifest schism, manifest Vigor (+1 move equivalent action)
Round 2: Manifest Hammer, make touch attack with hammer, manifest levitate (+1 move equivalent action)
Rounds 3 through (manifested level) take added partial action every round from schism

Lesser Boost
Round 1: begin to Manifest boost.
Round 2: Get Hammer, Vigor and Levitate (if not interupted over the 1 full round manifestation time). Make touch attack with hammer (+1 move equivalent action)

Schism has a clear advantage here. Boost is only really useful when you want to use a number of weaker buffs on yourself. Schism is also far more flexible, since you can use if for offense or movement.

Not really... Schism only lets you do mental actions. It's useful for fast buffing, but not really much more than that. Heck, you have to pay +2 power points for each power you manifest with these extra actions, too. Schism is not Haste; it's nowhere near that good.

For fast buffing, I can see a use for both your Boost powers and Schism. Schism is nice for psions, who are going to be using powers throughout combat. Boost would be for people who don't rely on powers while in combat, just for pre-fight buffs.

I think these are fairly nicely balanced. The benefits aren't all that great, considering what you're giving up. A power slot is a valuable thing for psionic characters, and a full-round manifestation time isn't that easy to get off. The limitations make it useful, but not amazing. It's something I'd consider taking for my monk/psychic warrior (probably for Claws of the Bear/Lesser Natural Armor/Talons or Lesser Body Adjustment x 3).

They're useful powers, and certainly less broken than, say... Haste.

Of course, by 'movement' I meant through psycoportive powers...;)

yeah, I think I'm rather happy with these as they are now, myself. I'd even add them as psyhic warrior powers, something I was a bit worred about before.
