two question about spellcasters

First Post
Question 1:

Is there any feat similar to shot on the run, spring attack or "the equivalent for mounted combat who's name I forgot" but for spellcasting in any book anywhere ?

Something like: dodge, mobility, spell on the run.

Question 2: is there any elven archwizard PrC out there (I'm not talking about elven archer or bladesinger, something more like the elven high magic in FRCS) ?

i never seen an example of either...

in Magic of Faerun, it specifically states that Elven High Magic is extremely rare, almost never taught, and is, in fact, in danger of dying out...

I'm not specifically looking for FRCS elven high magic but rather something in the genre. To make elven mage something different than a human wizard with pointy ears and one less feat ;)

It really amazes me that the former did not appear at least in the tome & blood splatbook... Felt like the next logical step ?

I think there was a shot on the run for caster feat in Quintessential Wizard. As I don't have the book here on my I can't look it up.

Pretty much any feat that can be used with a weapon, can be used with a spell. Ranged touch=Shot on the Run, touch=Spring Attack.

I know that's not how it works, but it makes sense to me.

Good suggestion!

I think probably it wouldn't work: Spring Attack amd Shot on the Run apply to melee/ranged attacks, which you do with touch/ray spells. But touch/ray spells are spells also, and casting itself (although done in the same standard action) is not not allowed byt those feat.

I am sure that you can use those feats if you e.g. have already cast a touch spell, but you still haven't tried to attack with it (or you missed the first attack).

OTOH, it would not be completely broken to allow such use of those feat. After all, it's quite rare to see spellcasters with those feats, given the many prerequisite feats. And you would still provoking an AoO when casting a touch spell, for example.

elven high magic...even if there would be a PrC with that kind of magic you would need thousands of helpers to use it...and off course have permission to learn it...as was said by a high elven mage(I think it was in FRCS or in Magic of F):
"Those that ask to participate in high magic are surely not ready for it yet."

And even if you could wouldn't it be like totally broken. High magic could make cities rise above the skies, could change entire landscapes and make a sea dissapear. Even Epic level spells could have a difficult time doing that. And High magic was not just a simple gesture but months, maybe even years of preparing and casting it with the help of thousands other....

perhaps a PrC could be made where you gain benefits and can use the magic in small...instead of lifting cities you could raise a house or something?...
