Eladrin fighter with Eladrin Soldier feat and uses an Urgrosh that he now has proficiency in to make an attack, let’s say a basic attack, does he get the +2 to damage while using the Axe end?

Anyone know why double sword is not considered a longsword for the Eladrin Soldier feat? Seem… silly.

Both ends count as an axe and a spear at the same time, the difference is only the damage dice.
-- So yes. you get +2 to your damage roll.

We did not make the rules, why would we know.
If you like so, houserule that the doublesword counts as a longsword for that feat. But remember doubleweapons are already extremely powerful they do not need that extra boost.

This is correct by RAW. I'm not sure if it was the intention, as one of the designers noted prior to the final release, they were envisioning double weapons to have a separate line of stats for each end.

I don't see any reason to make the doublesword even more powerful in the hands of the eladrin, but then again, I don't like the fact that dwarves get a bunch of freebee feats with dwarven weapon training either. So compared to what dwarves get, it wouldn't be terrible to allow the eladrin access to double sword with Eladrin Soldier feat.

There are no dwarves in my home game, so I've been able to avoid this issue. My thought, though, is that it would be better to nerf the dwarves than buff the eladrin up to their level. So if I had to homerule it, I would probably make dwarven weapon training not apply to superior weapons. IMO, having to spend 1 extra feat for proficiency does a lot to rebalance things.

It makes sense that someone who knows how to use the spear end of an urgrosh well knows how to use the axe end well.

Let's face it, it's not like they exist in isolation. A fighter using one will use -both- ends. And if you're using one end effectively, you have to be useing the other end effectively as well (even if that end isn't the one you're scoring the most contacts with)

Ok. Can I get some help calculating an attack then?
4th level Eladrin Tempest Fighter. 17 STR 17DEX.
Feats: Eladrin Solder, Two Weapon Fighting
Weapon: Urgrosh
Dual Strike
Attack (Lvl + STR + Prof + TTech)
Primary - Axe: +8 vs AC (2+3+2+1)
Secondary - Spear: +8 vs AC (2+3+2+1)
Damage (STR + ESolder + TWF + TTech)
Primary – Axe: 1d12+8 (3+2+1+2)
Secondary – Spear: 1d8+8 (3+2+1+2)

That look right? Because the Character Builder is not generating those numbers…

Character Builder is partly right. You don't get to add strength modifier to damage for dual strike, so your damage should be 1d12+5 and 1d8+5. Of course the Character Builder is partly wrong, because it doesn't add a line for the second attack's damage as 1d8+5.
