I'm making a new character, and decided upon making an illusionist specialising in shadow stuff. Our homebrew doesn't have gnomes, and I'm negotiating with the DM to be able to pick up the Shadowcraft Mage Prc. But that's beside the point. My main concern is this:
I was looking at the specialist variants in UA, an am quite interested in taking, well, all of the illusionist specials. However, by my reading, Illusion Mastery wouldn't extend to any levels of any Prc that add caster levels. Am I reading it right? If I am, how unreasonable would it be to try and talk it over with the DM to make it apply to Prc levels also? I mean, losing one slot per level is not exactly a cheap, especially for an ability that is mostly flavor. Our campaign doesn't feature frequent loss of spellbooks, and while the extra spells equate to not inconsequetial amounts of money, well, if I was min-maxing I'd still probably take the extra slots...
