Uber feats from Mercenaries?

Ok - I've gotten a copy of AEG's Mercenaries, which I'm fairly pleased with. However, flipping through the feats, one caught my eye as a bit overpowered. I'm just curious what other people think, though. Details as follows.

Strength of Blood
Prereqs: Great Fortitude, Thick Skin, Thick Skull, Toughness
Benefit: Upon taking this feat, you no longer roll for hit points, but instead recieve the maximum amount available. This doesn't effect hit points gained at previous levels.

For reference, Thick Skin adds +1 Natural Armor and Thick Skull adds DR 1/-. Any opinions?

I like it ;) prereq's if three different feats is pretty rough, so at that point it should be cool. hmm.. human fighter could gain it at level 3? (great fortitude is on the fighter list right?) Even then, how useful is it? Most groups I know use half max +1 or 75% depending on the campaign. So generally for the fighter it'd give 3 or 4 extra hp for each hd beyond the first 3 on average. So it has a lot of prereqs, takes a long time to go off, but when it does it is nice. I like ;)

Giving ~4 hit points per level seems a little strong. For that matter, so does Thick Skin.

AFAICS Great Fortitude is not a Fighter feat. That means the a human would need to wait till 6th level to take this feat and a non-human would have to wait till 9th level. Considering the fact that you have to spend 3 feats on relatively weak perquisites the feat does not seem overpowered to me. It is strong a strong feat but IMO no where near game breaking.

I agree about the +1 ac for a second tier feat not being incredibly hot, but at least it is ok ;)

The dr also is basically just so so, I feel that Roll With It from savage species is actually a very close approximation to what these sorts should be.

Do either thick skin or thick skull have prereqs? If they have high prereqs in stats or a feat requirement then the feats themselves probably need a bit of a boost in some way ;/ If you cant get this feat until at a minimum of level 6 by taking just the right path by the time you get it then its fairly average. Still, I do like it ;) I'd just change the prereqs in my game. Probably to needing roll with it (which requires toughness and con 20) and maybe great fortitude also. That'd make it very interesting!

One needs to take toughness for thick skin. So, that's 4 feats before one can take this feat. They add Strengtrh of Blood to the Bonus Feats fighters get, but none of the others are on that list.

I think you do have to take the feats, classes and equipment in the book with a certain grain of salt - but there are some good ideas.

e.g the Claymore and Flamberges are types of greatswords. They are defined as 2d8 damage weapons costing 75 and 100gp respectively, differing in their crit ranges (19-20 vs x3). Ack!
