Arrgh...I can't remember the name of my character...most of GenCon was a little blurred when I realised staying awake was more fun than sleeping. I got something like 5 hours sleep between arriving on Friday and leaving on Sunday.

Ah! Lathan Bryant! That was it. Notable actions included killing running up to the entrance, climbing the wall, and shooting the large Dire Wolf dead...then sneaking in the back way and helping kill the troll.

I was also the one who was savagely killed by the second set of Wolves...boo hiss.

I really enjoyed it, even with all the players, and I look forward to next year. I think if we are going to have similar numbers, a bar room brawl could be great fun! Keep it quite low level though, otherwise we'll be there all night!

Quoted from upper_krust "I played in some great games; though the Hackmaster Megadungeon stood out for me - hopefully I'll get you back for 'you know what' next year Tallarn! "

And yes, I may well have killed other people in the Megadungeon, BUT I'LL GET MY REVENGE FOR BEING FIREBALLED! Mwahahahahahahaha!

Thanks Tallarn - Lathan did a lot! I remember the Critical that finished you off as you were already leaving the table... :D
I've added Lathan's details to the saga at http://www.geocities.com/s.t.newman/Borderlands.htm
Do you recall his class(es) & levels?

I agree about low levels being best - I think I was right to run this game at mostly 4th level, it gives the PCs a reasonable degree of options, abilities and staying power, without the massive destructive power of the higher levels. So I might run next year's game at the same level, maybe even using the same PCs for those who survived.

You got Lathan right - a straight Fighter 4.

If we are barroom brawling next year (or rather in April) then I'm bringing a Monk! Because I always thought a bar room brawl should start in a place where they collect your weapons at the door...he he he...

Interesting idea, although it might favour the Monk a wee bit too much! Anyway I'll have a think about it and come up with some ideas. I'll probably attend Gencon for 2 days next time, I'd like to run a game on each day, something for lots of players day 1 plus something for 4-6 max day 2, plus play in a game (probably a Raven game, unless someone else on ENWorld would like to run something)? :)
Aside from a pub brawl, the other idea I had for a many-players game was a high-powered Diplomatic/Political Conclave game, a freeform-type gathering of world leaders to hammer out a Treaty or similar that would determine the future of my game world. Great for roleplay, but requiring a fair bit of effort from players as well as GM...
