[UK] EN World GenCon UK Gathering

Finally...the Krust has come back...to Bel-fast

Hi all! :)

I finally managed to get Simon to stop posting under my name; seems that tricky logout (DC 5) had him bamboozled. :D

Glad to have met those of you who went to Gencon, I hope you all had a great time!? I did. :)

Pity we didn't get the ENWorld game finished per se though I think Simon deserves some praise for not turning any ENWorlder away - even though we ended up with 15 players (14 + 1 later replacement) squeezing round the one table.

We may shortly have pictures of the event courtesy of Miho, who was the only one of us with the foresight to actually bring a camera. :D

I played in some great games; though the Hackmaster Megadungeon stood out for me - hopefully I'll get you back for 'you know what' next year Tallarn! :D

Hi Krusty - it was certainly an interesting experience for me, running the game was probably my favourite part of the whole Convention, but I agree that next time (April 2003) I will actually have to enforce my stated player limit (I'm such a softie!) and restrict it to people who've pre-booked to play via EN World. Maybe I'll run 2 games for around 6 players each? :)

In the end I enjoyed the Convention a lot, it was great to meet you all (though our turnout for the pub on Sunday afternoon was a little low - thanks for coming, Richard!) :)
- I've learned not to play in any more 1am games though, I don't have the CON for it. I complained extensively to Krusty about the lack of 'booth babes' at GenCon UK *sigh*, but there were plenty of cute female gamers, many in interesting costumes... And it was nice to get home to spouse & home after it all and look forward to next year! :)

Scenario XP & cash

For anyone who cares:

Dividing the troll's 1000 gp treasure amongst the survivors gives you 100 gp each. Leilah also persuaded the Margravine's stepson Lord Arngrim to cough up 1000 gp for fulfilling the letter of her contract! ;)

XP: party level 4th (avg).

Hong the Troll 6,400 (CR 7, x2 for extra-difficult).
Morrius the Necromancer 1,600 (CR 5)
+ others, made a grand total 17,000, divided by 10 survivors = a modest 1,700 XP each.

Hope you enjoyed it - see you next year, when I'll be running a _smaller_ game! :D

Just dropping by to say thanks for the game sorry Simon couldn't finish it I thought he had put lot of work into that adenture.

Cheers,

Lars

Never mind, maybe you'll get to finish it on Sunday!
If Sigurd can drag himself away from the arms of Eryla the handmaiden... :p

Hey guys (and girls?),

Hope those of you who played in my Isle of Woe game had fun (by a quirk of fate I was your emergency GM ...) - I sure did! Almost killed you all, but hey...

The rest of GenCon was a blast! Shame I didn't get to game much ...

Until next time!

Andrew

Thanks for the game Andrew, it was a great little dungeon from what I could see. You nearly succeeded in killing Subus the Barbarian but he escaped (just!!!) with more than a few painful wounds.

Simons dungeon was excellent also, although slightly spoiled by the overwhelming amount of players.

Thanks to everyone who made it entertaining and maybe see you next year.

It would've been a lot worse without your excellent Initiative-keeping, 'Burger! :)
I have to say, I really didn't expect so many players to turn up, and I didn't have the heart to turn any away when it might be their only chance to game with the other EN Worlders. And it was certainly an interesting experience for me, even though we ran out of time - I hope most of you enjoyed it and weren't too frustrated. One idea I had for next time was running a bar-room brawl game, they're usually good for accommodating numerous players and allowing for good roleplay as well as hacking; then I could run a traditional scenario later on for a small number of favoured players... ;)
