Ultimate Gaming Central - What would YOU build with $100 Million?

ok this is actually what i will do if i become an eccentric gamer billionaire (after I square enough away in a secure investment that i can live comfortably off the interest for the rest of my life, so that it doesn't MATTER if my enterprise is profitable)

The complex will be the ultimate center for gaming. Of ALL kinds. As you walk in the front door you walk into, well, it looks like what Chuck E. Cheese USED to look like back in the 80s. A veritable SEA of video games. Games from all eras, modern and classic, and everything in between. 75% of the games run on 1 token, and we'd have the best token specials ever. 1 token for a quarter, 5 for a dollar, 30 for a 5, 75 for a 10, and 200!!! for a 20. And that's not counting promotional specials. We'd have a kiddie corner where the games are set on lower difficulty, but you have to be under 10 to play em, and the rest would be on Twin Galaxies settings so that people could go for world records and such. There would be an entire long wall devoted to pinball, and the staff would include certified pinball techs so the machines would stay in condition so they play correctly. There would be no background music in the main arcade section, it would sound like it's supposed to sound: like an arcade. It would be lit in the oldschool way, with red, yellow, green, and blue colored bulbs in the ceiling providing that magical dim light us 80s kids remember from our youth. There would be large displays showing local high scores on various games as well as world records so people could see how they stand. We would hold tournaments and events on a regular basis, to provide a reason for people to go to arcades again, the magic of being there that playing at home just can't replace. In one corner we would have two ball pits, the kiddie one and the 12 and up one which is bigger and deeper. There would be the kiddie playground as well, and also the "big kids" playground, where the 16, 25, 50 year olds can swing on the swings and go down the slides.

Going down the main hall of this room, which would be gigantic, we come to another big room. At first glance, it's the classic Showbiz Pizza/Chuck E. Cheese "concert room" where you're entertained by animatronic animals singing while you eat your pizza and pitcher of Pepsi. Except there's no animatronic animals here. Instead, every evening you get the live house band playing everything and anything anyone requests (lyrics being appropriate for all ages, that is, and that they can play) Anything from video game covers to Animaniacs tunes to punk rock to oldies to Weird Al. Even better, Friday and Saturday nights we'd book local music talent to entertain people as they dine, or even bring in touring musicians (I would like to get the Minibosses).

Off to a side room from the arcade is the Sportsroom. Pretty much same as it was at Showbiz. Well with todays technology, so instead of just a big screen it'd be a plasma screen HDTV showing the "big game".

Now, we come to what everyone here is waiting for: upstairs.

Upstairs, things are a bit quieter. In the center we have the mini snack bar. Well, not that mini, it's about the size of the Sportsroom. This is where you can get all your food that's not pizza, although you can order that from downstairs as well. Upstairs would be accessible by a switchback ramp or an elevator. The snack bar's background music is provided by a jukebox, the kind where it's wired into mini copies at each table so people can play tunes from their table. The jukebox would feature an eclectic mix of music that caters to everyone from "normal" people who only listen to music that's on the radio, to underground "scenesters", to nerds like us who want to hear The Lord Of The Rings soundtrack. There's also a few "cocktail-style" vid games up here.

Surrounding it is a big hall, with a number of rooms offset. There's quite a few big rooms, for open gaming, large CCG tournaments, and miniatures gaming. There's a LAN room for PC gamers, with hourly rates payable at the snack bar, and a console room where people can rent console games for a buck an hour or so. The open gaming rooms would feature a couple PCs with DCI-type software preloaded on it, as well as software to run a projected scoreboard, so people could see the standings of tournaments and such, and TOs could run their tournaments easily. The big rooms would easily be able to accomodate something like an L5R Kotei or the Magic Pro Tour. There would be low-volume background music that would be changeable or turnoffable at a TO's request if the room is being used for a large event. For example, at a Kotei, traditional Japanese music might be played to enhance the atmosphere. There would also be no fee for open gaming, however to reserve a room or half a room for a major tournament, there would be.

Then, there's the reservable RPG rooms. Now these would feature a large table, and a single PC with DMing software preloaded onto it. These would be rentable for a timeslot for however many weeks are needed for your game. The DM would be able to hook up an MP3 player for background music, or play the game in silence, the rooms would be soundproof, and be very comfortable to sit in. There's access to snacks on site, pizza from the pizza kitchen of course, Mountain Dew and Code Red would be among the various Pepsi products you could get a pitcher of, you could even get a pitcher of "suicide" if your group is brave enough.

There's one more section to this "heaven": the STORE! which would carry all your gaming needs, from CCGs, RPGs, and minis to PC and video games.

Anyway that's what I would do if I had an unlimited supply of money.
