Ultimate Ranger/Druid

Assuming the following rules:

10th level
must have at least 3 levels in a class
no magic items
no resources outside of the core*
arena "PvP" style deathmatch (usually with 10 to 20 participants)

what is a good direction for a ranger/druid built to optimize the synergies between the two classes and be sure to go far?

*non-Core stuff can be requested, but so far I haven't had any lucking getting stuff approved.

Ranger 0/Druid 10.

Seriously, in a core-only environment, straight druid rocks.

I'd suggest:

SF Conjuration, Augment Summoning, and Natural Spell as key feats.

It's in the PHB.

And, yeah. I wouldn't multiclass them. They don't synergize that well. If I had to, Druid 9/Ranger 1, starting as Ranger to get a favored enemy, more skill points, and weapon proficiency, plus Track, which could work well if you Wildshape into something with the Scent ability. Would want to be a human (or half-elf, or possibly a wood elf) to avoid multiclassing penalties.
