Ultimate Rifts. Improvement or Same Old Stuff?

Dispite of what people think of Palladium there is one thing people miss. Their games are a mess in terms of rules, balance, theme, ideas, etc. If you can take that and run a good game with it, you are a pretty good DM. I learned a lot running their games and frankly it has made me a better d20 DM. People in d20 complain about the options, and the power levels and I just laugh. It's nothing compaired to what I had to deal with running Rifts. If you can take games that are not well writen and have fun with them, when you goto a well written game it will seem like a breeze.

That's pretty hardcore there, Remathilis! I'll admit that I don't like the Palladium system, but I'd rather play that than end up with destoryed nuts! That's just me, though... ;)

You don't know the power of the dark side.... er, I mean, Palladium's Rifts engine!

My thoughts exactly...

I'm no Rifts expert but what I think he meant there is that in the most current time they are obsolete. I don't see any reason you couldn't use the old equipment running a game that takes place @ and earlier time.

If they put all the updated new tech in the core book then we would have the people who bought the supplement all PO'd cuz the book they spent $15-20 is now in the core book.

Those remarks are mostly valid, but I sadi give us some of the new tech, then add in the phrase 'for more tech, go see...' A lot of RPG's do this all the time, hence calling it a revision or ultimate edition.

Putting all the new gear in the core book would tick people off to no end, and that not what Im saying.

Please remember that when you're talking about a game like Rifts, you're talking about their favorite game of all time. This could be another topic that benefits from a very short discussion.

Uh- what?

Sorry, I'm confused by what this statement means... sounds like a warning not to get too heated?

Ok So here's a quick question, and I'm not saying that this will happen its just hypothetical, but...

If Rifts was Rereleased with all new d20 ruleset, since most peoples complaint seems to be that they love the setting but hate the rules would it be more enjoyable for you to play and therefore you would be willing to play RIFTS where as now you do not?

Just a thought...maybe :]

Some of my questions would still lead me to think no.

1. No maps.

2. No solid GMing advice.

3. No solid time line.

4. No mechanics for game balance outside of experience point tables with different levels.

5. Old equipment would still be listed instead of new and actually used equipment.

6. Rules and background don't have clear and consistent seperation.
