Ultimate Superhero Toolkit

Trademarked or not, the name looks and sounds stupid, IMO of course. Hope it sounds different to native english speakers.

If you have any book title suggestions, I'd like to hear them.

Well, here were some of the other ones I offered Russ.

Supers
Superpowers
Heroes
A Time for Hero
Beyond Mortal
Beyond Mortal Ken
Capes, Tights, and Utility Belts
Four-color to Fantasy: d20 Supers
Heroes, Villains, and Sidekicks
Heroes for All Worlds
Masks of Justice
Secret Identities
Vigilant Guardians

Names

I don't want to sound harsh, but the current name (Ultimate Superhero Toolkit) kinda offends me.

It's not the grandiose claim of it being "Ultimate" that bothers me (I think hyperbole has its place, especially when dealing with comic books - just read some of Stan Lee's old Soapbox columns).

What bugs me is how close it is to the Hero System tag-line.

The use of the title for this game seems like it's either sniping (our game is better than yours), or poaching (if we use this name, maybe it'll confuse people into picking up our product). Neither of which seem quite, I dunno, proper to me.

Now that I've kvetched...

I think the idea is a good one, and, as far as titles go I like "d20 Supers". It's short, to the point, and not something people will rename or truncate when talking about it. From a marketing standpoint, it's something that creates immediate identification with the product and the genre.

But, hey, I'm not calling the shots here.

Except that it's got "d20" in the product title.

That'll be inference on your part, not implication on ours. As I mentioned above, "The Below-Average Superhero Toolkit" doesn't quite work...

What's wrong with that?

What if everyone has the same interpretation?
The superhero toolkit is fine, ultimate is redundant IMO

Because the Trademark Guide has strict limit on the use of their trademarks. "d20" is Wizards' trademark (when used to refer to their rules system, not when used to refer to the polyhedron-shaped die numbering 1 to 20).

for me at least, it isn't the word "Ultimate" that makes me think of the HERO System subtitle -- it's "Toolkit."

if the name were something like "The Ultimate Superhero Roleplaying Game" or even "Ultimate Superheroes," I'd be much happier.

but you don't have to change it just to please me... :p
