I once tried to homebrew a 4e guns ruleset, and here's one that stumped me on realism vs gameplay. So for a sneak peek of a rule... What's your take on autofire vs semi-auto? Is it an AOE deal or is it multiple attacks? (If you're willing to divulge your secrets that is)
There are two weapon properties, auto and heavy auto. Weapons with autofire carry one of these properties (a few have both). There are basic autofire attacks as well as a various area-effect powers for certain classes which can only be used with these weapons. Trained characters can lay down overwatch, supressing fire, and strafing (among many others).
