D&D 5E Undead Apocalypse (Interest Check)

...killing the Thieves Guild and just taking the tunnels for ourselves?

(^_^)

I mean, not to sound glib, but we NEED a good way in and out of the city we can rely on. It'd be an investment for the future.

And I love that not one, but two of you know the spell "Fly", and yet no one has suggested using it. The Warlock has 2 slots, the wizard has 3. There are only 5 of you.

It's not lost on me, but I can only make myself fly.

Fly is Concentration duration. We can only cast it one at a time. We'd need higher than 3rd level slots to make it work on multiple targets per casting.

Oh definitely. If you haven't seen a flaming gnome hovering 50' up and cackling as she blankets the earth in waves of infernos, then...well...you haven't been playing this game long enough. :)

Actually, it still is useful. You don't all have to be flying at the same time. Send the melee guys first to find a spot, then break concentration to send the archer, then the spell casters. Just because you can only do one at a time doesn't mean it won't work.

Why am I giving you these ideas? Don't listen to me. You really want to take on the Xanathar. Nothing could go wrong there. Promise.

Yes. Flying into a horde of undead two at a time is much safer. :)

Plus, Fly uses my main battle slots.

I'm not pooh-poohing you, I'm just trying to explain why it wasn't my first choice.

That said, waiting for day, finding a spot that looks clear to meet at, and flying over two at a time is not unworkable. It has risks, but a different sort of risk.

Even so, we are going to need a way in and out of the city that will work for more than just us eventually.

Eventually doesn't have to mean now though.

I was just giving suggestions. Taking on a thousand year old thieves guild that managed to survive the end of the world is perfectly valid.
