CAUTION: If you are looking for a typical game of D&D, read no further. This game is NOT for you.
So, you just got a hold of Unearthed Arcana, did you? Looking at all of those aquatic races, elemental variants and bloodlines? Or are you still enamored with Savage Species, with its monster levels for nixies, tritons, and water elementals? Enjoy flipping through the Monster Manuals and Fiend Folio, imagining life as a locathah, sahuagin, ixitxachitl, or half-scrag?
There are currently three openings in "Beneath the Pinnacles of Azor'alq" (BPAA), a D&D (v3.5) World of Greyhawk message-based game (Play-by-Post) set beneath the surface of the Dramidj Ocean. The current level of play is between 5 to 7. New players are welcome to create characters ranging from levels 4 through 6. The campaign, which uses the “core rules of 3e, select supplements from 2e, and the heart of 1e”, is designed for those interested in participating in a work of coauthored interactive fiction.
Now entering its seventh year, the BPAA campaign began in 1998.
In the campaign, I post a new "Chapter" once a week. During the week, the players respond to events in the Chapter, to NPCs, and to one another. I will add updates as time permits. The next week, I post a new Chapter. While this method of game play requires a degree of patience and the occasional spell-checker, I have found it one of the best options for those with hectic schedules.
The current party roster includes Cilvia: a tiefling mermaid, Nee'Kaa: an oceanid (daughter of a salt hag and triton), A fine damselfish hivemind (swarm, aquatic), Rimus: a human altered with grafts from a pseudonatural fish hag, Saphier: a half-dragon/half-fiend (half-topaz dragon succubus, using SS levels), Xmador: a triton prince, Teal: a half-water elemental/half-sea elf, and Alkanon: a sea elf.
The party's adversaries include a sea hag demi-lich witch and the four coveys of hags under her control.
