There were quite a few books on it. Two in 2e (one with Drizzt's name on it) and probably two in 3e. At least one. While previous editions have touched upon the Underdark peripherally, I do not recall one really going in depth with it.

I have two questions.
1) Does it go into detail about the Fomorians in the Feydark? Because aside from "Yeah they got fortresses down there", I know diddly about the Fomorians' setup, plans, etc.
2) What monsters are there? Is it like MotP/Plane Below, in that there's not a lot in there?
Which ones?
Does the book mention why or how Torog got stuck in the Underdark?Awesome book! Really helped me define my Underdark better that just a big collection of caves and tunnels filled with drow and assorted monsters.
There've been a few Underdark products over the years, but I haven't read most of them. However, based on what I've read, I too got the impression that the Underdark was "just" a bunch of caves. I get the impression that this most recent excursion into the depths below will more firmly tie the Underdark into the mythology of the D&D world and give it a "reason" for existing. While previous editions have touched upon the Underdark peripherally, I do not recall one really going in depth with it. This does and has inspired me enough to change the plans for the campaign I am running. Now, my campaign is definitely going to go underground to the Underdark around paragon levels..
