I can see where this can get lopsided, ruleswise.
I've always liked the drow weapon desintigrating thing for the "other worldly" quality it brings to them. I've always thougt it was the taint of evil, forged in the underdark type thing that wouldn't let them survive in the light of day. Much like the drow themselves.
Of course some drow are moving to the surface so...What could be interesting, if you wish to keep the rule is a way of working the taint of the weapon out so that it would not go *poof* once you get to the surface. Perhaps a wish or miracle, or even remove curse. Make the Drow do this too.
