what is the point in doing experience this way? what advantage does it provide?

Let me first caveat this by stating that I do not own UA, but would like to do so.

But, IIRC, UA was not going to be 100% OGC, but a big chunk of it is. That said, did you, in fact, verify that this particular part of UA is open content?

The OGL does no such thing. The d20 trademark license prohibits character generation and describing how to apply the effects of experience. As far as I can tell, you could include an experience table in a d20 trademarked product, you just can't describe how to use it. As for OGL works, they can (and often do) include full character generation and advancement rules.

Oh man... do I HAVE too ? It's not like I CARE about the ownership of this document. It's just that I busted my balls too much to just leave it on my hard-disk and not share the work.

If it's such a hassle to just do a single page of something and share it non-profit with a few guys, I won't bother anymore... it's not like a CDx adventure. Just an extension of something already available to make epic games faster under that system.

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate your concern, but I think I'll leave it as is. If you're certain I'm doing something illegal, I guess I'll have to do a factory recall.

Just out of curiousity, what IS the algorithm for character level xp?
