exactly....just a conspiracy theory. :D

Diaglo, I can't stay mad at you when you flash that winning smile...

But keep in mind that some of the [purported] authors of the text in question have been known to swing by this board. Accusing them of having "harvested" the work of eager fanboys without payment or acknowledgment seems like poor thanks for a good product.

Man, it took me forever to find the "thank the authours of UA" thread!

Thanks guys! Thanks for selling your stuff to me! I thank you as I thank the guy who just sold me a hot chai at the the cafe in the train station!

Sounds to me like "large-scale beta testing for Version 3.75" ... If enough people try and test these variants, WotC will have justification to publish the next refinement level of the D&D system.

So, and pardon me if I am being stupid, are they going to do an SRD-style document for UA? If they want the information out there and people to use it, it would make sense to do so.

Just curious.

You don't have to thank the chai guy, although if it's good chai that's the polite thing to do, in my opinion.

If you just wanna give him the money and drink your chai without comment, that's your call.

All I'm saying it's kinda poor form to drink the chai and then say the chai guy probably stole it.*

Me, I appreciate a job well done, whether it's a RPG book or a spiced tea of some sort, and I think a kind word is appropriate.

You, on the other hand, are apparently more focused on honing your razor-sharp wit. I assure you, sir, you have put me in my place, and henceforth I will try not to be nice to Andy Collins, lest you mock me a second time.

*Diaglo is apparently not trying to make any serious accusations here, so no blood, no foul.

Well, the character backgrounds for high-level characters reminded me a lot of traveller character background generation rules, although, sadly, there is no spot on any table for a character to be killed during creation. Wimps. :)
Because nobody liked their characters to be killed before they begin play. If you like having your character killed during the character CREATION phase, by all means add it in your own ... uh .... pre-game?

I dunno, it was kinda fun in a way. Kinda silly too, of course, but there you have it. ;) <== Hey, were'd that new "wink" smily come from?

While it may be convenient, it is not necessary when you clearly designate the OGCs in your product so that other publishers can use it. This has been going on for some time now among the third-party products, which have been shared by other publishers.

This is the first time Wizards has been able to follow the trend.

Yeah, but being able to download it for free is pretty handy.

Nothing stopping one of us from typing it up and posting it for all the world to see...
