They better not hollywoodize Elric and give him a happy ending.(or make him the goodie two shoe type for that matter) Then the whole point of his character would be gone....

It would be interesting if his character is done right.

Ath the end of the article it stated that Moorcock would be co-producing the movie, so that makes it more probable that Elric will stay true to his nature in the movie.

And also more probably that the movie won't get made.

Rememeber that this is just an option. Universal has by no means announced that they're actually going to make a movie yet.

Foundation, for example, has been optioned for years and no film has been forthcoming, or ever really even gotten close to getting made.

How good are they?

Let me put it this way: Michael Moorcock's Elric saga was a large source of inspiration for Dungeons and Dragons, according to Gary Gygax - along with Jack Vance's Dying Earth series, and Fritz Leiber's Lankhmar. While many think that J.R.R. Tokien was his inspiration, the truth is that the D&D of the early 1970's had a much grittier feel than the D&D of the late 1980's and 1990's, and Tolkien's works.

Reading these books, in comparison to the 1970's D&D material, and the 1st edition PHB and DMG, many enlightening comparisons can be made.

Happy reading!
