Unpainted Plastics?

Cool. I kinda figured detail would be lacking.

Does your friend upload his own 3D files to have manufactured, or is it a shop that caters to gamers (at least in part) that provides a catalog of models to pick and choose from? (Or does he use the one I linked too?)

He's uploading his own models for his space combat/battle game. I believe he has one model (for the Terran battleship) for sale at the moment.

Answer 1: DDM doesn't have unpainted plastics because the core line is painted minis. MageKnight tried doing an unpainted line a while back, but it wasn't successful.
To be fair, it was an unpainted version of the second core set ("Unlimited"). Unless you were specifically interested in painting the miniatures, there was little interest from MK players. If they had done a line with even a handful of unique dials in the set, there might have been more interest.

They made the same mistake with their faction sets. They released sets with almost all the figures of a single faction (one figure was random), but they weren't very popular since they were all miniatures from the first set, after the third set was released.

The Alkemy minis looke, if anything, even better in real life. And the game is great as well.

It's a slowly growing range, however - Kraken is more interested in stability than fast growth.

There are also a bunch of 4e supplements about the world and races of Alkemy - sadly only in French.
I think they ought to translate them and sell them as pdfs.
