Unseen Servant

Just use Prestidigitation instead. Taking dictation seems to be a minor enough effect that it would be covered. Also gets around the language problem - you're not using a third party that may or may not speak different languages than you do. It's just the caster using magic power instead of wrist power to get the job done.

You don't need literacy to write. Fun fact, way back in the day there were certain types of monks that would spend long periods of time copying holy scriptures; they were illiterate, but copied the text letter by letter without comprehending its meaning.

Asking an unseen servant to write for you without being literate works in a similar way; they don't know what they're puting down on paper, but know if it looks right or not.

While true, this would only allow a copying function, so I would say that, yes an Unseen Servant could copy something written word for word, it would be unable to taking dictation.

Also dcollins, there is no way an Unseen Servant could copy a magic scroll - that requires the Scribe Scroll feat.

I dunno, my take on unseen servant is that it is not a creature but a force - that's why it's invisible. I would rule that you could direct it to do simple tasks - sweep a floor, hold open a door, carry a potion - but nothing that requires finesse, such as picking a lock or writing.
