It’s interesting the line here. It’s not an official WotC thing but WotC folk are participating? Or something?
The weird revelation of Penny Arcade's response to the whole OGL debacle is that that is the way it has (other than an official book release) always been. I think the difference is that, given how much more controversial WotC has become, they now feel the need to emphasize that they are not officially affiliated with WotC. This likely also has to do with the fact that they are asking for Kickstarter money, and if people think they are funded by a giant toy conglomerate the money isn't going to be forthcoming.

Any news about the ”random” insert of the Dark Sun book in their initial announcement video?
It’s not exactly random. During the early 4e podcasts, Jerry ran a 4e Dark Sun adventure. It used to be on the WotC site alongside the other Chris Perkins-run podcasts, but I’m not sure where it can be found now.

Honestly I ... Kinda hope it doesn't get funded? I'd rather the PA guys walk away from D&D at this point.

To make it clear they aren't shills, even if they are on good terms with WotC, and this isn't a paid advertisement.

While the Penny Arcade rendition of Jim Darkmagic as Mouseguard character was pretty cute, I'm afraid having senior creative people from WotC running their own game for the ridiculous and irreverent adventures of Acq. Inc has always been a key part of the charm for me.

Which is not to say that I wouldn't watch if they switched systems, just that I'd want them to have a comparable relationship with the makers of whatever new system they switched to, if they switched to a new system long term.

I've enjoyed AI, and Perkins DMing for them. I would prefer the original three characters but I wish them well.

They were podcasting/streaming the game before it really caught on.

The other good old streaming game was Icosahedrophilia.
