Allright, some more background. First of all, I'll use a pretty realistic world, meaning buildings, places, some people. You can look things up on the internet if you want, but you don't have to.

The characters will probably travel throughout Europe during the adventure, but their homebase will be Belgium. The Europarlement and a lot of the bureaucratic services are based in Brussels, Belgium is a very central country and most people are able to communicate in three or four languages (dutch, french, english, german, some spanish). There is one big airport offering flights to all major european cities and some african flights. There is a high-speed train connection to London, Paris and Berlin.

About 60 % of people (north) speak Dutch as their native language, 40 % speak French, and a few hundred thousand German.

Your characters earn about 3000 Euros a month. (3100$, 6000 Ozzie $). As EEC workers they don't pay taxes. Your appartments are rent-free, and all expenses (car, gas, restaurant, laundry, clothing,....) are paid for.

You'll notice all characters will live in the same building, in Leuven. You are about five minutes from the train station, 30 mins by train to the center of brussels, 20 mins by car from the airport. Festy, people drive on the RIGHT side of the road here :p .

Leuven is a university town, with a big restaurant- and pubculture. It's got an old center, and a market square lined with pubs and restaurants. In summer months, it's stuffed with people sitting outside having a beer, and there's no legal closing time.

Dang, I start to sound like a tourist guide, time to call it a day. G'night y'all.

Any chance of allowing a Wild Talent feat? I'm thinking of the Memory Recall 0-level psion, which allows a reroll at +4 to a failed intelligence check or int skill check.

I'm working on Simon Coville (name borrowed from previous D20 Modern game that died, hopefully there's no karma still there), an in-house profiler, researcher, who's been called into the field, rather unexpectedly - for him that is. He's going to be a smart/fast combo (starting with Smart), who's getting to finally do the stuff he's imagined in the past while working his desk job.

Allright guys, here's the deal : this is the first time I'm mastering a game here on the boards, so be genle :D .

My plans are, for the moment, that you do your homework on the internet. If a computer-noob like me can find stuff about the ton-ton macouts, certain right-wing groups, the CIA and colombian drug-cartels, so should you. However, when you want to know if something you find is "true" in my game, you'll have to make a skillcheck for me to say yes or no. It MIGHT be true, but you just can't be sure. This represents your characters experience in research, knowledge, .... I'll limit the checks based on your characters actions : if they spend the day doing nothing much I might only allow one skillcheck, if they actively research on the net, check with contacts, do some legwork, I'll allow more.

How does that sound?

Also, use either this thread or the in-character thread, as appropriate, to coordinate or speculate on the things you research, on your suspicions, or use another thread I cant read.

Third, and last : I need feedback. In tabletop gaming I have a "combat" session about once every three nights, more if my players seem to get bored. I have a very open-ended GM style in tabletop, I use my players to drag the story along, if they're passive nothing much happens. Let me know if there's something lacking in my game, if you want to change the pace, or even if you wanna talk about the weather.

Cheers.

Sounds good, I looked up the ton ton macouts while I was writing the post in which I mentioned them, so I don't think I'll have trouble keeping up with that side of things. On feedback, I'll make an effort to let you know how I think things are going from time to time. Thus far the game's been good. :)

Eeeuhm, how do you guys wanna deal with this investigating business? My suggestion : specific questions get a bonus to the investigation roll. Btw, if this all bores you to tears, just let me know, and I'll up the action.
