Urban Arcana Hijacked Game

He knocked politely at Jennifer's door, checking the hall . . . all the while feeling slightly nervous and uncomfortable.

After a few moments Jennifer answers the door. She's changed out of her work suit and into a more casual looking dress. She smiles.

"Oh hey, come on in. Hope you like scary movies," she says with a chuckle, "There's this one I got called 'The Bunker'. It's a favourite. Dunno what kinda pizza you like, so I just got a couple of generic ones."

Jennifer takes some of the beer to put it in the fridge, and is pleasantly surprised by how cold it is.

Cold? How kind of him.

"Just pick out any movie you like," she calls from the kitchen.

[just gimme a nudge when you get bored, i kinda like this intercharacter interlude interplay thinghy. From my DM point of vieuw, nothing work-related will happen tonight, will start DM'ing again when your characters had a good night sleep]]

" 'The Bunker' sounds fine to me," Simon replied, "Though with everything we've seen today, I'm going to apologize in advance if I'm jumpy. I even had the weirdest feeling I was being watched this afternoon in the car as we were leaving. Odd, I know, but it was an odd feeling."

Simon let his eyes wander over the flat, noticing the same transition state that his flat was in. "So, you just got in here, too, huh? Suppose we'll need a shopping day to make the flats truly our own."

Simon wandered over to the kitchen, half following Jennifer.

Jennifer turns around.

"So did I! You know before I came here I went to a whole lot of haunted places around Europe. It's kinda like the feeling I used to get in some of those places," she says, and ponders a couple of memories, "No doubt with that amulet and the whole being watched thing this investigation is right in our field."

Jennifer grins.

"That is the best idea I've heard yet. When it comes to shopping I'm no exception, I love it," she claps her hands together.

Simon discovers that Jennifer's fridge contains very little, only a few things probably picked up in order to be able to eat for a couple of days until a proper opportunity to go shopping.

’ . . . in our field,’ Simon thought, then spoke the remaining aloud, “Except for some research, this is really my first assignment in the field. I mean, I’d always wanted a field job and it definitely is nice to finally be getting some sun . . . I . . . just thought you should know, I mean, in case nobody had informed you . . . wouldn’t be right, you not knowing, and all.”

By the time he had finished, Simon was more than a little embarrassed, embarrassed to be only starting out in the field. He knew that if he was going to be partners with Jennifer, he had to be straight with her about his experience – regardless of how embarrassing or . . . whatever other consequences there may be.

As a cover, Simon grabbed one of the cold beers and took a mighty swig and looked around the flat.

“Not to bad . . . ,” Simon said quietly, “looks an awful lot like mine. Though I suppose that will change with the shopping. . . .”

"Are you sure? Had me fooled this morning. If this is your first I'd say you were a natural," Jennifer says with a wink, "But thanks for telling me anyway, I appreciate it. I'm relatively new to this whole government agency thing, any investigation I did before this was simply my own effort to get a greater understanding of the supernatural. They sought me out for my expertise."

She blushes and looks around.

"Yeah, well, I'm not much of a house-keeper. It'll all find its place eventually, just got to get around to it," Jennifer giggles, "Going shopping will probably only make the mess worse. In the end I'll be trying to find places for the things I already own and any new things I get. I guess it's just the act of shopping itself which I look forward to."

She gets a beer out of the fridge and heads back into the living room to fetch some pizza and get comfortable.

"What do you do in your spare time, Simon?" she asks.

Jennifer said:
"What do you do in your spare time, Simon?" she asks.

"Well," Simon started, then paused to gather up some pizza and another beer, "I suppose that has changed some from my more recent days. Being staff researcher for the division was almost a 24 hour a day job. My free time then was spent sleeping on surfing the internet, trying to get a handle on what my superiors would ask of me next . . . "

"Before that I was a movie buff of sorts, goofed around on the computer, watched American football, played a lot of pool, and hung out at Jazz bars," Simon finished. "Rather diverse, to say it all at once. . . how about you?"

Keia said:

"A fair bit of reading and browsing about the net, mainly for ghost stories and the like. Anything spooky," Jennifer replies, "But shopping is good too. I also enjoy hanging out at cafes. I like movies but I wouldn't consider myself a movie buff. I like scary movies especially, heh, big surprise, but I have very particular taste when it comes to them. I also play some video games now and then."

She hops up and puts 'The Bunker' into her PS2.

"Ready to watch the movie?" she asks.

[ooc: Keia, if you're ready to move on with the story then I'm good to go.]

Jennifer said:

"Anytime you want . . . it's your movie house," Simon replied with a smile. He got up and grabbed another beer for each of them and settled in on the couch to watch a scary movie. He looked at it as an opportunity to be scared by something that wasn't real for once.

OOC: Anytime you're ready we can move to the morning

Jeniffer sleeps, a quiet, deep sleep.

You are standing on a clearing in the jungle. The heat and humidity hit you like a hammer. Insects buzz, birds sing and somekind of small animal lets out a scream of anguish as it falls prey to a larger predator somewhere in the deep jungle. Life pulses around you, like the deep beat of a drum. You can hear the sounds increase untill they become just that, the sound of drums being played in a hypnotic pounding rythm that sets your heart on fire and makes your feet start to shuffle. A man steps out of the jungle into the clearing, a large muscular african, past his middle age by the grey in his dreadlocks. Across his chest and back a serpent with feathers of all coulours in the rainbow is tattood, curling and swirling, with its head on his forehead. As you look at it, it opens her eyes, looking directly at you.
"You have something that belongs to me, Jeniffer. My people need it, for they are in danger, as are yours. Come visit Papa Ghede tomorrow night. He'll talk to you, and tell you what you need to know. Keep it safe in the meanwhile, for there is evil abroad, and it will stop at nothing to get it."
With that, the serpent closes her eyes, and appears to be a simple tattoo again. The man looks at you, smiles and then fades away. You stand in the clearing, as you hear the drums fading and the sound of the jungle resume it's normal course. Then you wake.

Simon sleeps, restless, anxious.

You stand in the hallway of the museum. The guard sits there, looking bored. A man enters, using the key. The guard looks up, used to late night visitors. When he sees who it is, he pales, and starts to scream. As the foul stench of rotten flesh reaches your nostrils, you start to gag. A decomposing hand points a maggot-eaten finger at the guard, and a lolling tongue forces unspeakable syllables past the decaying teeth. The guard screams, a scream that you know will be your companion for the next nights to come, as he claws out his own eyes and starts to chew on them in a desperate attempt not to see whatever visions haunt his mind. As you puke out the half-digested pizza with the fermented beer, you hear someone behind you laugh. Wiping your mouth you turn around, already knowing what you will see. The leopard man has climbed down from his statue, and walks toward you. You can see yellow eyes burning behind his mask.
"Yes, my friend, look, look at my powerS. You and your girlfriend have no chance to stand against us. You took an amulet from the museum. Give it to us, and no harm will come to you. Refuse us, and you will find out if your eyeballs have a nice flavour. But first we'll make you watch what happens to your girlfriend, non?"
He laughs again, as if he's made a really funny joke. "and incase you wake up thinking this was just a dream, here's a little taste of what's to come"
With that he takes a swipe at you. You nearly manage to dodge it, just a tip of his claw clips your ear, and you wake up, screaming, clutching a shallow but bleeding wound onder your earlobe.
