Urban Arcana Hijacked Game

The first searches on the internet show the usual.

rainbow serpent shows up a few interresting things, next to a lot of referrals to the horror movie, as does Papa Ghede. The problem is that, well, most internet sources are too short, vague, untrue, based upon speculation or a combination of those.

Around noon, being frustrated with the poor results of the internet searches, Simon accidently uses the police database to search for papa ghede. With result. Apparently there's a gangleader known as papa ghede in Antwerp, a big seaport in Belgium. Details are sparse as it's purely hear-say from informants, noone "official" has seen him yet.

If you want to research voodoo, you'll have to go to a library, internet sources are getting pretty useless at this point, or you'll have to look for someone who knows more about it.

Simon pushed his chair back from the desk in his room. "This isn't getting us anywhere," Simon told Jennifer. "The other thing I've found was a Papa Ghede in Antwerp, supposedly a gang leader - though that was off of the police database so who knows how reliable that is."

"Any suggestions? Are we heading to Antwerp? I have no idea how long it would take to find a mysterious gangleader in Antwerp . . . and you're supposed to meet him tomorrow night?" Simon sighed, then offered, "We could check in library as well as any occult specialists in the area, particularly voodoo related."

"Well, who's a notable gang figure in Antwerp? If we go to the right people and ask the right questions I'm sure we could find out more on this Papa Ghede," Jennifer says, "I'm guessing if he's anything like the voodoo entity then it shouldn't be too difficult to identify him."

"Should we check any resources here before we head out to Antwerp," Simon asked. Now that it seemed that a plan was developing, Simon seemed more energetic about getting on with it . . .

But, he wasn't certain that the answers might not be right in town. 'It would keep them out of the way and isolated in Antwerp. Why would someone want that?' Simon thought.

"Yeah. I'd like to pull up the details for any high profile criminals from Antwerp we may have in the police database. If that's where Ghede hangs out, then one of the 'higher ups' there would know of him. I don't think someone can earn a name like that without bringing themselves a lot of attention," Jennifer sits down, then suddenly stands back up, "I'd bet the boys in Narcotics could help with this one too."

Jennifer heads out and spends a little while sweet talking members of the Narcotics Department for info on any crime lordish individuals in Antwerp.

As Jennifer heads out to Brussels she notices that the sensation of being watched doesn't start. The road is calm, and the parking lot under the europarlaiment is fairly empty. The main lobby is deserted, as all the Europarlaimentarians and their bureaucrats are spending their weekend with their wives or mistresses. The poice-section, however, is quite busy for a saturdayafternoon. As you head over to the narcotics departement, yuou can see the familiar figure of Lafayette giving commands to a junior. Just as you enter he spots you, and a friendly smile lights up his face. "Hi Jennifer, working weekends allready?"

A voice behind you says, just not quiet enough so you can just hear it "I thought them ghost have the weekend off, or was that the vampires?", wich causes some hilarity.

Jennifer smiles and shrugs.

"We got an obscure lead and-" she begins explaining before being interrupted by the laughter.

She rounds on the prankster and looks him in the eye.

"They both get weekends off. I'm looking for a voodoo priest though," she sticks her tongue out at him then turns back to Lafayette, "Like I was saying, we got an obscure lead and are looking for a fellow by the name of Papa Ghede. Apparently he's in the Antwerp area. I was wondering if you knew of him or someone with enough influence in the area who might know of him."

She smiles sweetly and waits for Lafayette's response.

"Papa Ghede? Good luck finding him I'd say. We've been looking for him for a while, but we haven't been able to find out who he is. He's controlling the Jamaicans in Antwerp. They're a tough bunch, religious fanatics who consider Papa Ghede a holy man. They won't speak, and would rather be in prison for a few years then to risk their soul."

3james, you're handling the case aran't you? What was that bar where the ganger hang out? Yep thought so. The black Mamba. Don't go in there alone, Jennifer, you won't come out in one piece."

"Did you get anything on that murder and burglary in the museum yet? We still don't know what they were after."

I suppose a stop at the Brussels library wouldn't hurt, Simon thought. He let Jennifer know that he was going to head to the library to check through the reserved stacks and see if anything turned up. She could call him when she was finished at the station, or he would call her when he was finished at the library.

Simon dressed casually (not as an officer) and for the season, concealing his sidearm and packing his laptop and the rest of his gear in the car. With that accomplished, he headed to the library.

OOC: Sorry, missed the update. :( :o

"Hmm, thanks. I'll bring Simon along with me, that should help," Jennifer says, pleased with the information.

"They were after a specific amulet, but as luck would have it, the package it was in didn't arrive till the day after the incident," she explains, "Well, thanks for all that. I owe you one."

She smiles appreciatively and heads back to her car, pulling out her cell phone and hitting the speed-dial for Simon's phone.

"Simon? I've got us a lead on Papa Ghede: 'The Black Mamba'. I'll meet you at the library then we can go together, apparently the place is a bit on the dangerous side," Jennifer says as she turns the ignition, "One other thing, I didn't have that feeling of being watched on the way here."
