My question is why this and not Forgotten Realms or any other D&D setting that has alot of things going for it? Wizards did have a FR tv show planned but it never happened.
No. Fireworks Entertainment had a FR TV show planned but it never happened.

I don't think WotC have the capital to go into TV media entertainment industry. They can only hope that someone would buy the OPTION to make a film or TV series...

...Err, kinda like the way Courtney Solomon now holds the film right to Dungeons & Dragons. (And yes, he's involved with the sequel.) :(

Canada almost completely dominates the production of sci-fi TV series with Enterprise going off the air. With Stargate SG1, Stargate Atlantis, Andromeda, Smallville and Battlestar Galatica being filmed in Vancouver... Yes, many of those series do have cheesy CGI, and every alien planet tends to resemble somewhere in BC...
Good for Canadian economy ... sucks for us Americans.

Kindly educate me why outsourcing is a good thing for us?

I think most of those shows look good. I'm a big fan of Home Movies, so I'm sure I'll like this other Small show. I've never played D20 Modern, but Urban Arcana looks like a show I'd watch.

The theory is that is frees Americans from doing menial labor that all those degenerate foreigners can handle and focus on the real important stuff.

You know. Like unemployment.

Who better to come up with interesting plots than people that actually have played the game?

Um...how about someone with a solid understanding of the TV series genre and the demands of scripting for it. That way it wont bomb entirely in the first season.

I know there are gamers who can fulfill both those requirements (see JonRog1 and the members of his game group), but if the choice came down to having a competent script writer who knew nothing about gaming or a group of gamers, I'd take the competent script writer in a second.

Knowing about gaming doesn't necessarily = knowing how to write a script. Two similar, but very different, skills (see DnD movie, with commentary from the writer/director and a very large bottle of scotch).

Because instead of getting no TV show, we get a TV show?

It's a lot cheaper to shoot in Canada for various reasons. Like 30-50% cheaper. So the choice is generally either having a show shot in Canada, or not having a show at all...

(I would also point out, the US unemployment rate is something like 5.5%, the Canadian is actually quite a bit higher at 6.9%.)
