Urn Your Pay (Rae judging)

[sblock=OOC]It'll be great to have a storyhour, I apologise for not making it clearer earlier.

Anyway, I've been trying to portray Ter-raen as the "internal monologue/thinker" kind of character. Kind of like a clone trooper from the Karen Traviss series of Star Wars commando novels, but without the benefit of the internal radio set of the helmet. Not succeeding quite yet, but it can only get better.

His voice... probably something deep sounding, a bit slow. That'll sound better combined with his brief words.

[sblock=OOC]Well posted the first chapter. I will be happy to make any changes you guys want so just let me know. I tried to keep as much of the original posts as possible. I guess we'll see if anyone is interested, who knows might even attract a few folks to LEW which would be nice.

Thanks Serow, that was what I was guessing, but I did not want to define Serow's speech. It has not come up yet, but by the looks of things we have a heck of a lot to go!

Incidently I now give Gildrim his true name... Gildrim Spellcheck bane...[/sblock]

ooc: Link, please! :) Serow, where is Ter-raen moving in order to make his attack? The "move to attack" bit was mostly flavor. Their current positions are as you see them in the map.

[sblock=OOC] I might still go back and adjust the paragraph sizes, etc., but frankly it was pretty exhausting getting it to where it is now so I might not. In my experience story hours need to demonstrate a bit of reliability before getting any response posts so I will be interested to see how people react once a few more chapters are posted. Incidently if anyone can think of a catchy Chapter name feel free, all I could come up with was rather dull stuff playing on the fact that it was a rainy day.[/sblock]

Gildrim rushes after Ter-raen, but unable to get further into the cramped room without exposing himself to snapping mandibles, stops just behind him. He opens his mouth to complain, but, thinking better of it and with nothing else to do for the moment, begins singing a stirring song of an old dwarven victory against superior numbers through the use of narrow passageways.[sblock=OOC]to K21; inspire courage +1; 2 orisons and 1 bardic music use remaining[/sblock]

Erf frowns, this is not a winning situation!

"Ter-raen back off we need te make them come te us! Move back inte the room behind us! We don't need te let them all attack us at once! They've no brains te speak of."

He fires off a shot from his sling which strikes the centipede in front of Ter-raen with a dull thunk and then he and Fenenn move back (K17).

[sblock=Hit 23 before pens, Damage 2]-4 on shot due to combat (1d20-1=18, 1d3-2=1) Forgot to add Gildrim's Bardic music in roll.[/sblock]

OOC: Gildrim finally revealed that he's a bard! :D

Round 1, continued

"GRAHHHH MORE BIG INSECTS!!! TER-RAEN KNOW THIS IS BAD HOUSE!!!" Ter-raen leaps forward and slashes a centipede in two, spilling black ichor on the floor.

Gildrim rushes after Ter-raen, but unable to get further into the cramped room without exposing himself to snapping mandibles, stops just behind him. He opens his mouth to complain, but, thinking better of it and with nothing else to do for the moment, begins singing a stirring song of an old dwarven victory against superior numbers through the use of narrow passageways.

Round 2

Erf frowns. "Ter-raen back off we need te make them come te us! Move back inte the room behind us! We don't need te let them all attack us at once! They've no brains te speak of."

He fires off a shot from his sling which strikes another centipede with a dull thunk and then he and Fenenn move back. (ooc: applied to centipede 1, since 2 is dead.)

True to Erf's warning, the centipedes attack Ter-raen en masse, but only one of them breaches the warrior's defenses. Ter-raen feels a momentary stiffness near the bite, but it quickly passes. (2 damage, made fort save)

Erf 20/22
Fenenn 13/13
Centipede 1, 2 damage
Centipede 2, 5 damage, dead

HP 23/25, AC 18

Ter-raen takes a quick look around at the situation, and if he weren't holding a scimitar in his hand he would have slapped his own forehead in frustration. Bad move! But seeing that now he has no space to squeeze with the dwarf, Ter-raen shouts "Ter-raen ready!" and gets ready to move back into the narrow corridor when the dwarf gives him a little space.
