Urn Your Pay (Rae judging)

Erf attempts to examine more closely for magical auras, but he feels his control of his magical sight slipping away too quickly to get a more detailed read. The glass appears thick and sturdy, and the first few sling bullets Erf fires at the glass bounce off without apparent effect. Perhaps if he were bigger or stronger.... reluctantly, Erf steps back.

ooc: I think we've pretty well exhausted a level 2 detect magic. And 1d3-2 isn't enough to beat the hardness of normal glass, let alone glass that may or may not be magically enhanced. Aside: I have to admit a little amusement at the idea that Erf really doesn't hit hard enough to break glass.

OOC: It is hilarious that Erf cannot overcome Glass's hardness of 1 :p, and of course he cannot crit. I have created a character who could not escape from a display case.

I don't think Erf is close to using up his detect magic. He can concentrate on it for 20 rounds, and in that time all he has done is take 6 rounds to concentrate on the sword and cabinet, open a door and do a couple of scans. By my estimation he should have 7 rounds remaining bare minimum. He should also be able to scan the object through the glass assuming it is less than a foot thick.

OOC: I'm trying to think of a pun to do with glass cannons but failing epicly...

Ter-raen waits for the gnome to finish, before stepping up and looking over the glass once, then twice, thinking please don't explode, he holds his scimitar in a two-handed grip and slams the pommel down onto the case.

Ter-raen brings his scimitar down on the glass with both hands. The glass breaks with a dull thump, but not before a purplish-black flash outlines Ter-raen's hands for a brief moment. There is a smell of decaying flesh, and Ter-raen feels... a brief ache in his wrists.

ooc: 2 damage. Well that was anticlimactic.

Ter-raen rubs his wrists. The dull ache is still there, but not enough to make his drop his scimitar. No explode, good! is the first thought that comes to mind.

"So... what is this?"

"Whit ye shoud hae done is thraw somethin' throu th' glass frae a wey aff," says Gildrim belatedly and tiresomely. "Ah wunner if ye'll git cursit again whan ye snatch th' baubles."

"Only one way te find out. What de ye reckon fellas, finish checkin' out this floor first? Like I said I am out 'e spells, maybe we can go on until we take a hurtin' and then head out fer a little rest 'n' recuperation?"

Fenenn cocks a leg on the door frame and yawns hugely.

Gildrim grunts in reply. He seems a little distracted.[sblock=OOC]Has it been an hour since Gildrim cast prestidigitation to cool the yellow boots? If it hasn't, he'll try to 'lift' a necklace or ring out of the display case. It doesn't say in the description, but going by mage hand, I imagine it will fail on a magic item (yeah, the case is full of magic rings, I'm sure). If his prestidigitation is no longer active, he won't re-cast it. He's saving the last two orisons for emergency stabilization.[/sblock]

Ter-raen considers the odds. Although the lack of healing spells is important... but the urge to secure a safe spot, any safe spot in the house of bad omen seems to override his other considerations. Thus, he nods and agrees. "Come we finish this floor!"
