US Tariffs: $80-$200 Surcharge On All Packages Regardless of Price

It sucks for everyone involved. But being from Canada, I'm often getting it by the currency conversion, shipping and duties. The price of a book can easily double. And with Dolmenwood being a pretty big Kickstarter (got a big pledge with plenty of accessories) I have no idea who's gonna end up paying for any surcharges or tariffs.
if you live in Canada, US tariffs should not matter to you, unless the book gets imported to the US first and then sent to Canada, something I would expect any sane person to avoid

The books are sent to Canada from a US warehouse. So they do. And to Exalted Funeral's defense, these decisions were probably taken way before the current situation happened. But still, I don't want to have to pay more. But it's hard for me to see how a business could take on a surcharge for every customers when the profit margins are probably not huge.

Exactly. It's a giant mess that's going to cause some businesses to go bankrupt and some customers to have overdraft fees. I can see a lot of canceled orders and a lot of Kickstarters holding on to a lot of stock. Luckily I only have one outstanding physical product Kickstarter and if I get hit with an $80 additional charge I'll cancel. No way I can justify spending $170 for a $60 box of RPG stuff. I almost didn't back because of the $30 shipping. Another $80 at least on top of that. Not a chance.

Same with me. For some reason, some orders from the US sometimes hit me with duties, sometimes not. Most of the time when it happens it's like 8-9 dollars. I complain, pay it and go on with my day.

But I have a feeling that a big box with not only books may be different. If it's a significant amount, I'll definitely cancel and ask for a refund. Which makes me wonder if a small company like Exalted Funeral can even process a significant amount of refunds. It might work budget-wise because they'll sell these stocks later, but it might not work cashflow-wise.

Exactly. That's what I mean about bankruptcies. It's going to be especially nasty in this tiny niche hobby with razor-thin margins.

Most companies in this industry have their North American warehouse or fulfilment partner in the US, not Canada. We (as an example) have one in the UK, one in the US, and one in Australia.

So when do we have a get-together in Boston and dump a bunch of gaming books into the bay?
