Use New monster format for Character builder output

I was just thinking the same thing. In combat, the new monster format seems so much easier to use to have your combat options at your fingertips. It would be great to be able to print out a "monster" output version of the character from the character building showing always on effects like auras, standard, minor and reaction type actions.

I've been begging on the Wizards DDi Community board for exactly this almost since the Monster Builder was released. The monster stat block is perfect for regular use. I actually print my group's Companion Character using the Monster Builder and they always run it far faster than their own PCs.

One page versus 4+ makes a huge difference.

Personally, I'd like to see something akin to the Dark Sun preview characters.

I really like the idea of surges having their own tick boxes you can scratch through as you use them.

This thread inspired me to put together a "Character Block" for my wizard. It took some elbow grease but the results are pretty, and you're welcome to play around further with what I did. Word 2007 docs and PDF preview attached. The icon font I used was found on the forums: http://www.enworld.org/forum/4268238-post97.html

Great idea.

I think the Monster Builder format would be perfect, especially for new players.

Of course, they've still got a tonne of problems to fix in the Monster Builder before they get to this but I hope it makes it onto the list of things to be done for the Character Builder.

A few people grabbed the zip file to look at it, if nothing else. For anyone that decides to play with it, I updated the file so it's easier to use. Not easy, per se, but easier. :P

Grandpa: great idea... I like your summary a lot, the only question is the font for the power types. Any idea where I could download that?

Credit goes to the thread masters. I presumed a monster-styled stat block would be too long with accurate power descriptions and I needed my stats, so I spent a lot of time formatting and attempting to cram power text into a brief line of shorthand that was still comprehensible in a long list of abilities. If only it were easier to edit. As shorthand it's probably only so useful for a new player, but still plenty useful to me. I'm excited to try the sheet and index cards at my next game.

Regarding the font, I found it poking around ENWorld, I think. I'll edit with a link when I find it.

Edit: Found It! http://www.enworld.org/forum/4268238-post97.html
